Tubac had thirteen DGs from Tucson eating lunch (on Oct 13) at the Tubac Resort and shopping at their stores in town. Lunch was tasty and it's always nice to see our members having a fun day!! Be sure and join us on our next outing.

DG HOUSE BRUNCH WITH NEW RECRUITS

The Delta Gammas new class of recruits has 89 charming, beautiful and smart ladies. They were treated to brunch prepared by Chef Tom and in attendance were 11 alumnae. An introduction was made by each attending with a short talk from Emily Morrison. This is always a wonderful outing for the alumnae to meet the new recruits.

The fall recruitment for all Panhellenic sororities is finished. DELTA GAMMA has now added 89 new recruits to their membership. Over 1200 women participated in campus recruitment. A new member brunch is planned for Sunday, Sept 18, at 9am at the DG house. All DG alumnae are invited to attend the brunch. Please respond on the EVITE which has been sent out by Jane Wright.

SPRING 2011

The February election meeting was held at Barbara Bauer's beautiful home with dinner served after the meeting. The new officers are: Rachel Wankling incoming President, Fran Lord next Programing Chairman, and Connie Melton becoming the Sponsorship Chairman.

Founder's Day, on March 5th was again held at Skyline CC with nearly 200 alumnae and collegiates. Our interesting speaker, Davis Fitzsimmons, kept us entertained with his drawings and stories.

The April gathering was at the DG house on campus with all collegiates invited to watch the Senior Send-Off Ceremony with 32 seniors accepting their welcome to alumne status and receiving their blue anchor key chains as a parting gift from the alumnae.

May Board Meeting is always the planning session for the coming fall of 2011 and spring of 2012.
Meetings, socials, tours, luncheons and fund raising is greatly anticipated.

June bring us to the end of the fiscal year with a social dinner at Acacia Restaurant on Skyline attending will be DG sisters, friends, and husbands. Join us by responding to the evite.

The next meeting is our February annual meeting and election of new officers. You need a reservation as this includes dinner for all attending. An evite was sent out with requests for responses. Our January Tour of the Blind and Deaf School

The tour of the Blind and Deaf School on Speedway near the I-10 Freeway was attended by 28 Delta Gammas and friends. We were warmly received by three staff members and toured dorms and classrooms.The campus is very large with 52 acres of land.Our group decided we would like to plan another tour in the near future.Lunch was held at the Marriott Catalina BBQ Sports Bar on Starr Pass.

December Gaslight Theater Party

Reservations are being taken for the DG Gaslight Theater Party being held on Tuesday evening Dec 14th. Your check confirms your reservations and checks are made out to Tucson Delta Gamma and sent to Cathy Kobernik. Seats are limited and all seats must be prepaid. All DGs, spouses, and friends are invited. Don't miss out on a fun evening full of laughs. This is our Christmas Party.... and we plan to meet before the show in the Gaslight Theater Grill for an old fashioned food fest. Ritha will distribute paid tickets before the show. Tickets are $17.40 for seniors, $19.58 for adults, $8.67 for children. We have a a reserved upfront section. All money must be in Cathy's hands by Nov 30. This show will be sold out on Dec 1. It's September.. the DG house on the U/A campus is full of DGs who have just returned.
Recruitment is over... with 76 new recruits. The alumnae are hosting a brunch for Sunday morning Sept 19 at 9 am. Come and join us... just reply to the evite that was sent out by Jane Wright.
$5 per alumnae to help us pay for the brunch.Remember that October brings a Sister Mixer.

Summer is here!!! The DG chapter house on the U/A campus is being upgraded again. Work is progressing rapidly to finish before recruitment. Alumnae are traveling, enjoying the sunshine (or not) and the alumnae board is working on programs for the coming year.
Our fall newsletter, "The Roadrunner", is due out in early September. If you have news to share, email Margaret Hubert, mrahubert@wbhsi.com, with all the information needed.
We are also in need of a new sponsorship chairman, an Anchora correspondent, and more help with membershp. Could this be you??? Email Margaret and volunteer. Many hands make light work!!!!!

Tucson Delta Gamma needs your dues. Our fiscal year doesn't end until June 30, but we need at least 40 more members who have forgotten to pay dues this year. Our alumnae group has just finished our yearly sale of geraniums, which added to dues, will represent the money we need to help our Service for Sight charity work. Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired, Sun Sounds, Paws for Cause and The School for the Deaf and Blind all benefit from our efforts.

FOUNDER'S DAY MARCH 6TH 10:30 AM SKYLINE CC
Founder's Day at Skyline CC was a huge success with a room full of collegians and alumnae. Our speaker, Dr Paul Melendez, from the U/A School of Business gave his talk about ethics in today's world of business and government, and was warmly received. Many of the DGs on campus have taken or will be taking classes from him. Whitney Abatemarco, collegiate president, gave out several awards. Also, Margaret Hubert, alumnae president, welcomed 50 year members with pins and roses. The Pederson Award was presented to Cathy Kobernik for all her help, two Stellar Awards were presented to Suzanne Gerdes for her work as Sponsorship Chairman and Melissa Vinikoor for her work as Advisory Team Chairman. A big thank you to Emily Morrison, current Panhellenic President, who acted as chair for this luncheon as we celebrated 136 years of Delta Gamma.

FEBRUARY MEETING !! Our annual meeting was held in SaddleBrooke at Beth Effenberger's lovely home. She prepared a wonderful chicken casserole, salad, and yummy dessert.
The geranium sale is approaching with lots of orders of these beautiful plants. Buy one and sell one!! Let's make money for our Service for Sight and Hearing Charities.

Our January outing !! Tucson Alumnae visited with the Green Valley DG group at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa. Twenty three of us had a delightful lunch together, shopped in Tubac, enjoyed sunshine and 'sisterhood'.

Etiquette class held at DG house on Sept 28

The Alpha Pi's hosted a dinner time etiquette class given by Tucson alumnae Ritha May, Beta Omega chapter, Washington St Univ. This class involved dining, business and social points of interest. Ritha is trained and certified as a Corporate Etiquette and International Consultant by the Protocol School of Washington D.C. . Approximately 140 Delta Gammas were in attendance.

Service For Sight

We have introduced three Service for Sight projects that we plan to make on-going: collecting used eyeglasses, Campbell product labels, and General Foods box tops. These items support service for sight projects and are something every alumnae can do even if you can’t attend meetings regularly.
Last year, we sent 33 used pairs of eyeglasses to New Eyes for the Needy, and contributed 253 boxtops to our local Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind that help pay for special supplies. 300+ Campbell product labels were collected and will be sent in before February 1st. Start saving these items now !! Help us help our charities.
